Send Change of Address Info:
- Post Office (they have forms)
- Subscriptions (several weeks ahead of time) – notify by mail or check website
- Charge Accounts – Credit Cards – Bills
- Bank – Close accounts / Open new accounts
- Insurance – Notify new location for coverage (residential, auto, life, health)
- Utility Companies - Gas/Fuel, water, telephone, cable/satellite (check for deposits/refunds) Notify service terminations & arrange for new services.
- Service Companies – Garbage & Recycle, etc. (terminate & begin new)
- School Records – Ask for copies for transfer of records
- Medical / Dental / Pharmacist – If changing, get referrals & transfer records
- Pets – Inquire license regulations; Vet referrals & pet vaccination records
Tips on Packing:
You can realize substantial savings when you “do-it-yourself” packing & moving. Packing is time consuming so allow plenty of time – begin with items not frequently used and work your way down to everyday items as moving day approaches.
- Organization in packing will save you time and frustration.Use strong containers in good condition that can be sealed with strapping tape. Similar-sized boxes stack easily – don’t overload – keep a 50# limit.
- Fill empty spaces in box with newspaper, packing peanuts or bubblewrap.
- Label each box after packing by writing which Room it is to be delivered to and also Itemize main items in box. This helps to prioritize when unpacking.
- Do not pack valuables such as jewelry and financial items – hand carry.
- Place items you no longer use or want in boxes for charitable donations. Keep a list for tax deduction purposes.
